Cade Cathey will be joining the Buccaneer basketball program next year. Cathey is a 6'2 guard out of Sheridan, MT.

According to Cathey, "I'm excited on signing with Dawson because I know I'll be warmly welcomed to the team and the community and I'm excited for the development and hard work ahead."

As a senior he led his team to a 14-7 season, finishing 4th place in the district. This was the best program record and finish in the past 20 years.

"Cade has a good skill set that will translate well to college," said Dawson Coach Joe Peterson. "He is a good shooter with a really quick release and he has good athleticism. I'm excited to see how hard he will work and how much better he will get at the next level."

Cathey is a three time all-conference selection and two time all-state selection. He was Sheridan's offensive player of the year for the past three seasons and was named their team MVP the past two seasons. This past year he averaged 17.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 46% from the field and 77% from the free throw line.

Cathey's high school coach, Bennett Holland, commented, "Cade Cathey is an extremely talented kid who lives and breathes the game. Cade has set a new standard at Sheridan, not only with his excellent play, but with his work ethic and self dedication to improving his game. Cade has put in the work to get himself to the next level. Not only does Cade represent himself and his family the right way, but also the entire community of Sheridan. We are all excited for him as he embarks on the next chapter."
