DCC Basketball Signs Louisiana Guard

Dawson signed 6'3 180 lb guard Matthew Kinzeler out of Mandeville, Louisiana. Kinzeler led Fontainebleau High School to the state tournament his sophomore and senior years. In his final season, he averaged 18.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a senior while shooting 40% from 3-point range and 91% from the free throw line. Kinzeler also led his team with 27 charges taken on the season.

Dawson Coach Joe Peterson commented, "Matthew can really shoot the ball and can do it from deep range. He also has a winning mentality with how hard he works and how competitive he is. Put that together with his high basketball IQ and skill level and you have an impact guy who can come in and make us better next year."

As a senior, Kinzeler was selected to all-tournament teams for three tournaments. He was also Team MVP, All-District, All-Parish and scored 1,000 points in his career. He was all-tournament twice as a junior and was named Team MVP and All-District.

"I chose Dawson because it feels like home," according to Kinzeler. "I believe Dawson will prepare me for the future and help me achieve my aspirations as a basketball player. Coach Peterson obviously has a great track record and I really want to be a part of a team that is heavily supported by the community and wins. And Dawson checks every box."
