Poplar basketball star Delray Lilley signed a Letter of Intent with Dawson Community College. Lilley helped the Poplar Indians to a 16-11 record and reached the championship game of their district, championship game of their division, and the semifinals of the Montana Class B State Tournament before losing to the eventual state champions.

"I'm really excited we were able to get Delray," said Dawson Coach Joe Peterson. "We've watched him for several years and I love his feel for the game. He has good skills, plays hard and will fit well in our system. More than just his basketball ability, he is a good student and an outstanding young man. Exactly the kind of guy we love to have in our program and that succeed in our program."

Lilley averaged 21.6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 54% from the field and 70% from the free throw line.  He was named first team all-conference for his last three seasons and all-state for the past two years.

Lilley shared, "I want to thank everyone who helped me get where I am today and Coach Peterson for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to continue to do what I love."

Lilley's high school coach, Gib Medicine Cloud commented, "Delray has stepped into this program's leadership role as a sophomore. A young man that devoted all his extra time towards the development of his game, twelve months out of the year. When we needed something big, such as a score or a defensive stop, Delray simply made it happen. Our coaching staff is very proud of this young man and his accomplishments."
