After a 25-7 season, three Buccaneers were named to the Mon-Dak All-Conference Men's Basketball Team. Ty Buckmon and Justin Asi were chosen as First Team selections and Roniel Oguekwe was named Second Team.

Ty Buckmon was selected Conference Player of the Week twice during the season, including the first week when he was selected as the MVP of the conference tip-off tournament. He averaged 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Buckmon finished in the Top 10 in six categories in the conference including scoring, 3-pointers made, free throws made, free throw percentage, assists and steals. He finished second in assists and third in steals. Buckmon scored in double figures 22 times in his 31 games played and reached 20 points 8 times. He is a 6'3 sophomore guard from The Woodlands, TX. Dawson Coach Joe Peterson praised Buckmon, "More than all of the stats he had, Ty was a great leader. He worked hard every day, showed a lot of toughness and rose the level of the players around him. He was playing injured the last month of the season, but never complained and just kept working."

Justin Asi is a 6'6 freshman forward from Melbourne, Australia who averaged 14.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 50.9% from the field and 42.6% from 3-point range. Asi finished in the top 10 in the conference in four categories including scoring, field goals, offensive rebounds and steals. Asi was 2nd in the conference in offensive rebounding and was 5th in the entire country for total offensive rebounds. He scored in double figures in 24 of the 30 games he played this season. Coach Peterson shared, "Justin has all kinds of talent and made some good strides this year. He is very athletic and very skilled. I'm looking forward to see how hard he works in this off-season and how much better he can get. His ceiling is very high, but he will have to work to reach his potential."

Roniel Oguekwe averaged 9.7 points and 6.9 rebounds and shot 55% from the field. He scored in double digits in 15 games this year and had a season high of 21 points against Williston State College on his sophomore night when he went a perfect 10-10 from the field. Oguekwe was 3rd in the conference in offensive rebounds, 6th in field goal percentage, 6th in blocks and 7th in total rebounds. Rony is a 6'7 sophomore forward from Galway, Ireland. "Rony has come so far in his two years at Dawson. He put in the time every single day. His best quality is his positive energy that rubs off on others around him and his endless motor. Whether he scored or not, he did so many things to help us be successful."

Coach Peterson concluded, "I'm happy for these guys to be recognized by others. It speaks to our success as a team and how their teammates supported them and helped them to shine."
