Dawson’s special season ends in the District Championship game with loss to #4 ranked Indian Hills
The Buccaneers fell one game short of qualifying for Nationals, losing 92-65 to Indian Hills Community College. The Warriors are now 30-3 on the season and will get one of the highest seeds at the National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. Dawson ends the year at 27-7.

Indian Hills showed why they are one of the best teams in the country early on. They jumped out to an early lead by dominating the boards and finishing inside; and they never looked back. Dawson made a few runs at them in the first half but Tyon Grant-Foster’s three pointer at the buzzer gave the home team a 57-37 lead at the break.

Dawson played them pretty even in the second half but could never get within striking distance as Indian Hills sailed to victory. The Warriors have one of the best defenses in the country and they limited Dawson to 34% shooting from the field. Indian Hills dominated the boards 53-34.

Dawson Coach Joe Peterson said, “That’s a really good basketball team who will go far at Nationals. Our guys battled hard like they have all year but were overmatched inside and on the glass. I’m really proud of this group. They’ve come a long way and have achieved so much this year. Even more than that, they have become a family and lifelong friends.”

Grant-Foster, who has already signed with the University of Kansas, had a game high 29 points on 11-16 shooting from the field for Indian Hills.

The only players in double digits for Dawson were Man Man Baker with 13 and Camron Dunfee with 11.
