Austin Ngalia signs with DCC Basketball

Austin Ngalia from Granbury North Central Texas Academy is the latest addition to DCC Coach Joe Peterson’s recruiting class for 2018.  The 6’8 forward who is originally from Nigeria, led his high school in Texas to a 57-5 record over the past two years and back to back TAPPS Class 1A State Championships.  Ngalia shared his excitement, “I chose DCC because I feel like this is a better place for me.  After all of the offers, I got the feel like this school has what it takes to help me get to where I really want to be.  And I have faith in Coach Peterson and I love the system which he plays the game.  I’m so thankful to God and I’m happy to be a Buccaneer!”

This past season for Granbury, he averaged 12 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.  He was a First Team All-District selection, First Team All-State and All-Tournament.  Ngalia also played with the Texas Basketball Express AAU team.

Coach Peterson talked about his latest signee, “Austin adds size, length and athleticism inside for us.  He is a good defender and rim protector and a beast on the boards.   He’s perfect with the guys we already have inside and will play well with our guards.  He’s also another guy with good character and a great work ethic with the potential to really blossom as a player.”

Ngalia is the 9th signee this spring for Coach Peterson who is only returning one player from last year’s team to go along with two red-shirts.  The recruiting class includes three from Montana, four from Colorado and two international players who have gone to high school in Texas.
