Dawson Baseball Beats Williston State

Williston State College got things started in the first inning by scoring one run. Austin Robertson took the win for Dawson Community College. He went five and a third innings, allowing four runs on 11 hits, striking out eight and walking none. Zane Jerman threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Jerman recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Dawson.

Martin Gisiger, started the game for Williston State on the mount. He surrendered five runs on six hits over two and a third innings, striking out two and walking one.

Dawson launched one home run on the day. Andres Artola had a four bagger in the fourth inning.

The Bucs saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Kevin Castillo, Keenan O'Brien, and Brett Norby all had two hits to lead the Bucs.

Head Coach Phil McClure addressed the team going into this game, making it a point to have a desire to win, “I challenged the kids to have INTENTIONALITY when it came to swinging a bat, moving runners, and scoring runs. The team really took that to heart as they fought back against a good WSC team”. 

DCC was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. DCC took the 7-4 victory to move to 1-6 in the Mon-Dak Conference.

 

O'Brien's Walk-Off Picture Perfect Ending Leads Dawson to  Victory Over Williston

In the second game of their double header, a walk-off double led Dawson past Williston State 4-3 on Sunday. Bailey Bethke started the game for Williston State. He lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five.

Dawson opened up the scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run for the Bucs. Williston scored three runs in the sixth inning. The game was tied at three with DCC batting in the bottom of the eighth when Keenan O'Brien doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, driving in the game winning run.

Wyatt Sorensen was the winning pitcher for Dawson. He surrendered three runs on five hits over eight innings, striking out two and walking zero. John Koronka took the loss for Williston.  Keenan O'Brien went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dawson in hits.

Coach McClure commented, “I challenged the team to win two games.  We had a rough start to the season building the competitive edge, and this team stepped up to the challenge learning how to push over the hill to win in the tight situations. This team has the ability. It is just keeping them focused and having the desire to do something big that is holding them back. Hopefully this was the change we need to move forward in the Mon-Dak.”
