DCC Baseball Coaches Present at Montana Baseball Coaches Conference

Dawson Buccaneers Head Baseball Coach Phil McClure and Assistant Coach Dru Sebastian were invited to speak at the Montana Baseball Coaches Conference this past weekend.  Coach McClure commented, “We were hesitant at first with our players returning to campus, but we knew this would give us the opportunity to introduce ourselves to baseball programs across the state and spread awareness of Dawson Community College and the baseball program.  Being new coaches and new to the state, we were fortunate to have this opportunity and I believe we represented the school in a positive way.”

The Montana Baseball Coaches Convention just concluded its 4th year and is a comprised of youth and high school age baseball coaches from Babe Ruth, Little League, Cal Ripken, and American Legion. There were about 40 coaches in attendance and it’s continuing to expand each year.

Coach McClure continued, “It’s opportunities like this that allows coaches to continue to grow their passion for the game and spread that passion to their players. It is tough to keep kids excited for baseball in Montana without having high school baseball and I feel this is a great tool to help channel the training to help coaches keep their kids interested. By having the DCC coaching staff in attendance, it really showed the coaches that we are here for the state and want to see success within the baseball community.  My main goal when I arrived on campus was to draw a positive light about our program whether it be through speaking at conferences, community service opportunities, or camps. I feel like we have been very successful so far and look to continue that into the future.”
