Dawson Baseball trio signs with Mayville State for 2019 season

A pair of Bucs pitchers and an outfielder have all signed with Mayville State University (ND) for the 2019 season.  Gunnar Garpestad (Glendive, MT) will be making the transition to Mayville State after spending two seasons as the starting center fielder for the DCC Baseball team.  “Gunnar is a mainstay in our outfield and our lineup,” says DCC Assistant Baseball Coach Aaron Leanhardt.  “I expect him to contribute at Mayville right away.”  Garpstead will join right handed pitchers Jack Bowman (Grand Rapids, MN) and Austin Rivera (Clearfield, UT). Pitching coach Eric Kline expected the two young arms to get interest right away, “These two guys were impressive from day one. We knew they would have some options to pitch at bigger programs sooner rather than later. I am elated that both of them have great opportunities at such a historically strong program like Mayville. This is definitely a win for both sides. It will be fun to watch them progress for us this spring.”

Mayville State is located in Mayville, North Dakota and competes in the North Star conference, an NAIA affiliated athletic league.
