Bucs RHP commits with Mount Olive

DCC Sophomore right handed pitcher, Kyle Norman, has committed to pitch for The University of Mount Olive beginning this fall. Norman transferred to DCC from Treasure Valley Community College in the fall of 2016. During his freshman season, the Hamilton, Montana native posted 11 strikeouts in 10 innings, good for 9.58 strikeouts per 9 innings. “He didn’t throw as much his freshman year as we all would have liked due to some arm fatigue, but was very effective when he did. With the arm being an issue we asked him to play some first base which he did without hesitation.  He finished 3rd on the team in RBIs,” said head coach Chris Lewis.

In his sophomore season at Dawson, Norman was 2-1 on the mound with a save and a complete game. The right hander logged 28 innings with 24 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.57. Coach Lewis added, “Kyle was our number one arm without a doubt and he was one of the best arms in the conference. He only gave up two extra base hits all season and had 7 strikeouts per 9 innings. He can pitch no doubt, but he was also a great teammate and a program first kind of guy. We are truly happy for him and we are excited to watch how he can help Mount Olive.”

Norman pitched this summer in the Palm Springs Collegiate League and threw the first no hitter in league history. The University of Mount Olive is a NCAA DII institution located in Mount Olive, North Carolina and member of the Conference Carolinas.
