Baseball Adds Hitter from Arizona

Dawson CC Baseball is excited to add Lorenzo Valencia to their roster for the spring 2018 season.  During the scouting and recruiting process, DCC Assistant Baseball Coach Leanhardt liked what he saw, “What I see in Lorenzo is a fierce, feisty competitor.  He swings the bat from both sides of the plate, he covers ground well in the outfield, and he has a commanding presence on the mound.  I’m thrilled to bring his diverse skillset to our program.”

Lorenzo graduated from Tempe High School in Arizona.  As a senior, Lorenzo led with team with a 0.430 batting average and earned 2nd Team All-Region honors in the talent-laden region surrounding Phoenix, AZ.  Lorenzo spent the fall semester studying at South Mountain CC and working out with the West Coast Guapos.  When asked about coming to Glendive, MT, Lorenzo said, “I chose Dawson Community College because I felt like this program can help me grow as an individual and because they saw something in me that no other coaches saw and gave me a huge opportunity.”

Head DCC Baseball Coach Lewis added, “Coach Leanhardt has been working around the clock to identify players that can help fill our needs for the spring season.  We had a need in the outfield and we feel like Lorenzo fits that need very well. It doesn’t hurt that he also has the ability to compete on the mound. We are excited to have him join the Buccaneer Baseball family.”

Lorenzo will get to enjoy a homecoming, of sorts, when the Bucs play in the Tucson Invitational on March 12-16, 2018.
