DCC's Shelby Fronk Campus Contact Honoree
Because of her leadership, commitment and service, Shelby Fronk has been selected as Dawson Community College's recipient of the Montana Athletes in Service Award through Campus Compact Montana. Shelby is a sophomore on the Volleyball Team and she comes from North Ogden, Utah.
There was a ceremony that took place on November 20th at the Brawl of the Wild football game between the Cats and the Griz at the University of Montana in Missoula. Unfortunately because of prior commitments, Shelby wasn’t able to attend. DCC will honor her during their home basketball game on Thursday, January 20 against Dakota College Bottineau.
Shelby has volunteered in numerous ways including helping move people in and out of their homes, volunteering at different sporting events for the college as well as the high school. She is also a Residence Assistance and has done service through them as well, and she helped with Anton’s Special Olympics run last year. Shelby completed around 70 hours of community service in 2020-2021. She loves helping people and enjoys giving to the community and our campus. Shelby has left a great legacy by the way she leads and carries herself as well as by always having a positive attitude and her willingness to give to everyone around her. She truly appreciates what the college and the community have done to support her and the volleyball program and wants to give back by helping people or organizations in need.
The Montana Athletes in Service Award has three specific goals:
1) Honor civically engaged student-athletes from MTCC campuses for their commitment and engagement in community service.
2) Raise awareness for civic engagement programs at MTCC member campuses.
3) Highlight student-athletes as role models to encourage more civic engagement activities throughout Montana
For 29 years, Montana Campus Compact and its affiliate campuses has supported students, faculty and communities across Montana with programs that encourage and recognize community service. Montana Campus Compact and the State of Montana are proud to honor the following athletes whose extensive volunteer efforts have been of great benefit to their communities.
“College students in Montana do amazing community work, and their investment of time, talent and energy help improve our communities across the state. Campus Compact’s Montana Athletes In Service Award honors the contributions of student athlete-volunteers.” said Josh Vanek, of MTCC.
