DCC Basketball Teams Ready for Home Opener

The Bucs and Lady Bucs of Dawson Community College are ready for their home season openers this weekend.  Both teams finished in 4th place in the Mon-Dak Conference Pre-season tournament this weekend and are looking to build on that against some tough competition at home.  Northwest College from Powell, Wyoming will be visiting on Friday with game times set for 5:30 and 7:30 pm.  DCC will be honoring all veterans at the game on Friday with free admission and a free bag of popcorn.  On Saturday, Sheridan College will be the opponent with game times set for 4:00 and 6:00 pm.

Bucs Coach Joe Peterson commented about the games, “We are excited to play some games at home.  There’s always excitement to play on your home court with your fans cheering you on.  This team has showed flashes of brilliance but hasn’t developed the consistency that we need up to this point.  Hopefully playing at home will give our guys extra motivation and will help us play up to our potential.  Northwest and Sheridan are both really strong teams so it will be a good test to see where we are at this point of the season.

Women’s Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. is glad to be at home, “We’ve been on the road lots in the last month.  I’m glad we get to play in Glendive where our fan base is strong and maybe propel us to win both of these games.  Both teams are tough, so it should be entertaining to our Buc Nation!”
