DCC Cross-country Coach Resigns

DCC Cross-country Coach Resigns

Dawson Community College Cross-country coach Ben Sandy, resigned on Wednesday to pursue other opportunities.  Coach Sandy helped to resurrect the program that had been non-existent for several decades.  This past season they had five male athletes and one female athlete who competed in 12 different events throughout Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota in the fall and the spring.  There are 9 men and 3 women signed to compete this year.  Their first meet will be September 13 in Billings at the NAIA Regional Preview Meet, hosted by Rocky Mountain College.

DCC Athletic Director Joe Peterson appreciated Coach Sandy’s contribution, “Ben had a tough job, but he worked really hard to get the program up and running.  From ordering equipment to beating the bushes on the recruiting trail, putting together a schedule and providing excellent training and instruction to the student-athletes, Ben re-established the defunct program.”

Dawson will begin the search for Coach Sandy’s replacement immediately.
