Tabor College has added two outstanding student-athletes to their athletic program.    They both originally came to Dawson Community College from Utah, found success on the field and in the classroom and eventually found each other.  Now Travis and Cassidy Stevens have both signed to play at the NAIA college in Kansas.   

Dawson CC Baseball player Travis “TJ” Stevens joined the Tabor 2018 recruiting class.  TJ has been an anchor in the DCC Buccaneers infield and lineup since joining the program for the spring 2017 season.  “TJ is a smart player who makes his teammates better,” says DCC Assistant Baseball Coach Aaron Leanhardt.  “I expect great things from him both on and off the field while at Tabor and beyond.”  In the classroom, TJ is an honor student and member of the Dean’s List.  He is majoring in Exercise Science and Athletic Training and plans to enroll in the physical therapy program at Tabor College.

Tabor College Baseball is a perennial powerhouse in the NAIA.  When asked about signing with Tabor TJ said, “My time at Dawson CC helped prepare me for the next level.  I learned a lot about who I am as a player and where my place is in a team.  I am very excited to continue playing and improving at the four-year level as I compete at Tabor College.”

TJ is married to the former Cassidy Wall, also from Utah. Cassidy played two years with the DCC softball program and is now currently serving as an assistant with the softball program. Cassidy has also signed at Tabor College and will be playing softball for the Blue Jays. DCC assistant softball coach Tami Johnson stated, “Cassidy Stevens is a very talented student athlete who will give you 100% on and off the field. She had a very successful time at Dawson on the field. Stevens played a big part in Dawson winning two Region XIII Championships. Her leadership and talent will bring many positive attributes to Tabor College.”

DCC Baseball Coach Chris Lewis stated, “It is a very unique situation to have a husband and wife both involved in college athletics at the same school and gets a little trickier when they are both trying to find a home at the four-year level. We are really happy that they found a place that fits their needs in just about every area. They are both tremendous people with a lot of maturity and outstanding work ethics.”
